What is 3-circuit track lighting?
A 3-circuit track system contains four copper conductors: three phase wires and a neutral wire. This lets you create three separate circuits on a single rail, which you can switch and dim independently. This allows you to control different zones in a room separately.
Installation step by step
Safety first: switch off the power before you begin.
Preparation
- Choose the desired location and measure the length.
- Make sure the mounting surface is flat and sturdy.
- Turn off the power.
Mounting the rail
- Choose the right wall plugs and screws for your ceiling or wall.
- Hold the rail against the ceiling and mark the mounting points.
- Drill the holes and insert wall plugs if necessary.
- Secure the rail firmly with screws.
- Place the end caps on the ends of the rail.
Tip: If possible, work with two people. It makes installation much easier.
Want to mount it as a pendant? You can do so with suspension kits and steel cables.
Installing connectors (optional)
Would you like to connect multiple tracks? Use connectors.
- Loosen the screws, but leave them in the connector.
- Position the connector correctly in the track, paying attention to the grooves.
- Tighten the screws to connect the tracks securely.
Connecting to the power supply
- Attach the power connector to one end of the track or use a centre feed.
- Connect the wiring correctly according to the circuit layout: L1, L2, L3, and N.
- Check that the electrical connections are secure and correct.
- Turn on the power and test the track.
Optional: Connect a socket module or emergency lighting to the track.
Installing fixtures
- Choose a suitable position on the track.
- Turn and click the fixture into the track.
- Select the desired circuit: L1, L2, or L3.
- Check that the lighting is working properly.
Use and maintenance
Track lighting requires little maintenance. Follow these steps to keep your system tidy and working safely.
Note: Always turn off the power before cleaning the track or moving fixtures.
Moving fixtures
- Turn off the power.
- Turn the fixture to release it, then remove it from the track.
- Turn and click the fixture into its new position on the track.
- Check that the correct circuit (L1, L2, or L3) is selected.
Cleaning
- Clean the track and fixtures with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
Periodic checks
- Check that the track is still firmly attached to the ceiling or wall.
- Check that the connectors and connections are secure.
